Here is the Mad Science notes and lesson plan for 4-9 Sep 2023.

 

Jiu-Jitsu Focus:

  1. Adults: Top Side Control Escapes.
  2. Youth: Applications of Games to Techniques / Side Control Escapes

Judo Focus:

  1. Adult: Koshi Waza (Hip techniques)
  2. Youth: Foundation building – balance, grip, and focus.  

Kickboxing Focus:

  1. Adult:  Counter Strikes Review  / Side kick development and set-ups  / Matador Mitt Drill Introduction
  2. Youth: Foundation Building, offense, defense, and footwork

 

Notes:

  1. We have been invited to attend an open training session on Saturday (9 Sep) at KMAA, it is both gi and no gi. We will post more info on the information board at the gym. Should be a good time and chance to roll with different folks. I plan to go and can give 3 people a ride if need be.

     

  2. Several competition opportunities coming up in the next few months, check the gym's Facebook page for more info.

 

Next week (11-16 Sep) will be our next Vale Tudo week!!!

I could not be happier with the quality of the instruction and the comfort level walking in the door.  Ted is an easy conversation and will defiantly keep things understandable regardless of the level you are on.  Not only do I train, but my kids train with him as well.  And, I have no reservations about recommending him to any adult or child wanting to learn.

I highly recommend trying mad science judo and Jiu-Jitsu. I am from out of town, but visit the area a couple times of year and have been looking for a go to gym to train at while in town. I showed up for a Friday open mat, and the training was great. Ted (the Black Belt Instructor) treated me like a valued member of his school, and by the end of the night I felt like I was a true member of the school. great people, great atmosphere, and great instruction. I highly recommend to anyone in the oak ridge/ Knoxville area to give this school a shot. I will definitely be back when I come back to town
