Notes:
- As we start regrowing the youth program, we are adding a six-week cycle with more emphasis on the development of life skills. This will be transparent to existing students, however, if any parents want their children to participate, I will give them the workbook and they can do the outside homework. It isn’t anything particularly difficult, in some cases it’s likely things they are already doing, such as helping around the house, personal hygiene, being cautious, grateful, etc. The use of the workbook will also help reinforce accountability. Again, it is not mandatory for existing members, but it would be a good thing for all – if you want your child to participate, just let me know and I will get them a workbook.
- The Mad Science Adult Practice tournament will be on Saturday, May 27th. In addition to our normal divisions (this one is the Gi tournament), We are adding an extra division (Sambo) division for people to give it a try. The Jiu-Jitsu is focused on white and blue belts, but the Sambo division is open to anyone of any rank. We are bringing in a national Sambo Referee to facilitate the matches and give in-depth rules briefing to all who wish to give it a try (you should try it – it's really neat).
- This may be a bit premature, but we may have some exciting additions to the kickboxing program in the coming weeks. I will leave this as a teaser, as I have a conference today to get the final details is it is something we want toad, but I feel pretty positive about it at this point. I will give a hint (Kickboxing will be added to the 2028 Olympics).
